To make these bags, one of the oldest techniques in Mesoamerica is used. A natural fiber called nuti is twisted with the fingers on the thigh to join the fibers together and turn it into thread. After spinning, the bag is hand-woven and dyed with natural dyes such as soot obtained from cooking fires in homes.
Mexican artisans carry out this laborious work of making fishing nets. This technique makes each bag unique in size, shape, and color, adding a special value, as no two are alike.
