These beautifully hand-embroidered Mayan necklaces are handmade by highly skilled weavers, who transformed the collar of vintage huipils into main pieces for your wardrobe adding modern fringes made from floss silk threads.
We try to use huipils from the village of Patzún (Chimaltenango), where indigenous weavers usually embroider the ‘Mayan Calendar’ design with blocks of figures circling the neck opening of the huipil. The usual glyph motifs are sometimes replaced with flowered or feathered designs.
